Community Support & Business Development
Jeannie’s Cakes is more than a bakery — it is a growing, community-rooted business built on family tradition, perseverance, and a commitment to long-term success.
Founder and owner Steven Gray has participated in the University of Houston SURE™ Program, an entrepreneurship and business-development program designed to help small business owners strengthen their companies through education, mentorship, financial preparation, and strategic growth.
Through business-development partnerships and community resources, Jeannie’s Cakes has continued to strengthen its financial foundation and prepare for its next phase of growth. Previous referrals and support also helped Jeannie’s Cakes successfully obtain CDFI financing, demonstrating the company’s commitment to using responsible funding to build a stronger and more sustainable business.

In 2025, Jeannie’s Cakes was recognized as a University of Houston SURE Program Best Business Winner, marking another important milestone in the company’s journey.

Today, Jeannie’s Cakes is preparing for its next chapter — expanding beyond its longstanding Houston Galleria presence into a full storefront concept designed to serve families and the surrounding community through fresh baked goods, coffee, cake pops, custom cakes, and other signature offerings.
Our continued involvement with local organizations, business-development programs, community partners, and neighborhood businesses — including relationships such as The Book Reader — reflects our belief that successful small businesses are built not only through sales, but through meaningful community connections.

Jeannie’s Cakes is proud to continue growing with the support of organizations and communities that believe in small-business ownership, entrepreneurship, and economic opportunity.
